Went to the Barrel restaurant on our way to Port Dover. Our dinner was excellent. Our server was knowlegable and suggested we start off with calamari. It was excellent and was served with a great dip. The veal scallopini was very tender and HUGE!! The fettucini was awesome and had one of the best creamiest sauces we ever had! The service was very fast especially considering how busy it was!
Excellent from start to finish. I was in town on business and was looking for a non chain restaurant to take a client. The Barrel was recommended by a local. The restaurant was large and very clean, staff was very courteous and professional. The menu was excellent with all the Italian favorites. I had the veal and my client a fresh chicken breast salad. Both were a very generous portion. We started with probably the best chicken wings I've ever had and the meals were excellent and very fresh. The owner came by at the end of the meal to enquire about our meal. He told me that everything is homemade using locally grown produce where he can, tomato sauces, dressing etc all home made. He even imports his own organic olive oil. I ordered a large pizza to bring back to Toronto which he cooked just short of ready. I warmed it up at home in the evening and the kids loved it. I can't wait for my next business trip to Simcoe.
A group of four of us made reservations for New Years Eve here. W e are very glad we did! The restaurant was packed when we arrived and there was about 70 ppl waiting to be seated without reservations. They had a New Years Eve menu which had a few appetizers, mains and feature wines and desserts. The waitress was very pleasant and gave us a free wine sample to make sure we liked it before serving. Even though she told us they were non stop busy since noon everyone was in a good mood. The restaurant was decorated very nicely and we really liked the Michael Buble Christmas cd...nice touch. Our friends from Brantford really enjoyed there food and atmosphere. If you do decide to go on the weekend or during Holidays make a reservations as they get very busy We will be back!!
I took some friends here for lunch. The service and the food were good but the portion sizes are not anything to write home about. The music selection and atmosphere were very nice and I would eat here again if I was in Simcoe.
Lovely birthday meal for Grandma. Travelled from Flamborough to see the Simcoe Christmas lights. Everyone was impressed - Grandpa says best lasagna he's ever had. Beautiful smells right from the parking lot, and bustling cheerful interior. Great value, great food.
